As part of our commitment to provide resources to assist our member organizations to best serve their communities, we are continuing to develop materials that are available in print and/or digital formats.

Community Arts Toolkit

Sorry, but we have SOLD OUT of the Toolkit.
We hope to publish an updated version soon.

The Community Arts Tool Kit is a handy resource designed to assist community-based arts groups in strengthening their organizations. This invaluable tool for new and established arts organizations alike, offers guides, samples and templates on such subjects as How to Organize a Juried Art Show, Basics of Planning a Concert Series, and sample bylaws for registering your society.

The Community Arts Tool Kit is currently in use by arts councils, galleries, performing arts groups, community centres, and recreation commissions throughout the province. Designed to be a practical, renewable resource, it provides essential information on successfully starting and running a community based arts organization.

The Community Arts Tool Kit is organized into eight sections covering a range of topics including:

  • Marketing & Promotions
  • Fundraising
  • Volunteer Recruitment
  • Financial Management
  • Planning & Development
  • “Best Practices” models for community arts projects

Each section contains articles, "how to" guides, templates and a list of references and resources. Each section also includes personal, introductory essays, "voices of experience" contributions from individuals whose knowledge and expertise provide a context for the material contained in that section.

While the Community Arts Tool Kit was originally developed as a resource for community based arts organizations, much of the information it contains is equally valuable for other kinds of community groups or individuals interested in arts administration and available resources.

With its practical, loose-leaf binder format the Community Arts Tool Kit offers flexibility and easy updating as new information is added.

Some articles and guides have been excerpted from the print edition of the Toolkit made available online. We also add to our collection regularly -- visit our Resources section.
